The variable was created from multiple survey questions, specifically recoded from questions Q1. and Q2.
The variable is calculated to show the percentage of respondents who comply with US Preventive Services Task Force recommendations to have a mammogram in the past two years. This variable is restricted to women ages 40-74. Variable mam_scrn does not match Q1. Ever had Mammogram because Q1. Ever had Mammogram includes respondents outside the CDC age guidelines for screening and outside the recommended time limit of two years (see Q2. Time Since Last Mammogram).
