Descriptive Text

The adult BMI variable was calculated from height and weight variables provided by respondents (if in metric converted to US measurements) using the following equation: BMI= (mass (lbs)*703)/(height (in)^2). This value was then used to categorize individuals as Normal (BMI<25), Overweight (BMI>=25 & BMI<30), and Obese (BMI>=30). The universe for this variable includes all adult respondents age 18 and older.
