The variable was created from multiple survey questions, specifically DEM_12 and DEM_13.
The adult BMI variable was calculated from height and weight variables provided by respondents using the following equation: BMI= (mass (lbs)*703)/(height (in)^2). This value was then used to construct categories of Normal weight (BMI<25), Overweight (BMI>=25 & BMI<30), and Obese (BMI>=30). Any BMI value greater than 99.99 and less than 12.00 is set to missing, following CDC BRFSS treatment of biological implausible values. The universe for this variable includes all adult respondents age 18 and older.
