Dataset: The Health of Houston Survey 2018 Post-Harvey

Abstract

HHS 2018 POST-HARVEY DATA. The Health of Houston Survey 2018 Post-Harvey is part of the Health of Houston Survey 2018 (HHS) Public Use Data File. Users can find study information and descriptions listed under HHS2018 PUDF, which is the main survey file, or at the survey website (www.healthofhouston.org). The HHS conducted interviews in 2017, before the Harvey flooding, as well as in 2018, six to nine months after Harvey. Respondents interviewed after Harvey received new questions related to the storm and how their lives were impacted by it, and their recovery and needs existing at the time of the interview. For ease of use, we have included in this file only variables related to the post-Harvey questions, along with some sociodemographics, and adult respondents who answered them (n=2985). A specific weight ('Fnlwgt_post') is added to the file to make this sample representative of the adult population of Harris County.

----NOTE----

(1) Prior to conducting cross-tabulations in Nesstar, the 'Fnlwgt_post' weight will need to be selected and applied for accurate point estimates to be tabulated. Nesstar assists the user with this weighting through an icon (shown as scales) in the upper right of the taskbar. Clicking the icon will show the relevant weight variable; once the user selects it, Nesstar will automatically apply it to the data tabulation.
(2) The user must exercise caution in interpreting tabulation results that contain very small cell unweighted counts becasue they will produce unreliable estimates and are insufficient to support inferences.
